Olivami: a group of young people who love their land and believe in Salento

Olivami is a non-profit association founded by a group of young people from Puglia who believe in Salento and its ability to recover following a tragic epidemic crisis. Over the past 5 years, more than 21 million Salento Olive Trees have been destroyed by Xylella. Salento, a land characterised by its olive trees, has found itself witnessing a dramatic scenario, forced to eradicate centuries-old trees and others that represented a rich family tradition. Olivami was therefore born with a single purpose: reforesting the Salento countryside destroyed by Xylella. Through this objective, the association intends to return work, history and traditions to farmers, to preserve the production of Extra Virgin Olive Oil and help reduce pollution. “We know that we can’t do it alone, that’s why we ask for everyone’s help”. With Olivami, anyone has the opportunity to adopt an olive tree in order to support the rebirth of Salento and its farmers.

Southenergy and Olivami: renewing our pact with nature every day

“Southenergy was born from the dream, written down on a piece of paper, to enhance the resources of my homeland: the sun and the wind.” Dr. Giovanni Melpignano, CEO Respect, protection and enhancement of the resources of its homeland are the principles behind the birth of Southenergy. Honouring our pact with Nature is fundamental for Southenergy in its business-related activities and beyond. For this reason, Southenergy, providing solutions aimed at enhancing renewable energy sources for the use of “self-made” clean energy since 2008, has decided to support Olivami by creating its own garden of 50 olive trees in Salento (CO2 subtracted: about 30 thousand Kg/year).
