Southenergy chosen among Intesa Sanpaolo’s “Imprese Vincenti” (Winning Companies). Melpignano, the CEO returned to Ostuni: renewables are the future.

This time, Corriere del Mezzogiorno is talking about the important award obtained by Southenergy. Michele Pennetti, journalist and editor-in-chief of Corriere del Mezzogiorno, interviewed Southenergy CEO, Giovanni Melpignano, talking about the recent award of “Impresa Vincente” awarded to the company by Intesa Sanpaolo, the program dedicated to the valorization of small and medium-sized Italian companies that best express excellence in the various sectors and territories of the country.

The sun, the wind and a pinch of calculated madness. When Giovanni Melpignano decided to pack his bags and take the train back from Milan in 2008, he had already clearly visualized the dream that has now become reality.” – M.Pennetti.

Parlano di noi | Corriere del Mezzogiorno & Imprese Vincenti

Today, and for over 16 years of company history, Southenergy is a reality, an industrial reality with a clear mission: Southenergy helps its customers generate energy, personally managing – on behalf of companies, families and institutional investors – the entire value chain connected to the generation and management of renewable energy, and offering turnkey solutions for the enhancement of roofs and land.

A management portfolio that Pennetti summarized as follows:A startup that sixteen years later is unanimously recognized as a jewel in the field of alternative energy. Southenergy handles all phases internally, from the origination & permitting of utility scale renewable plants, to the management and implementation of wind projects and plants, to industrial and residential photovoltaics in terms of design and construction of turnkey plants, enhancement of pre-existing plants through repowering and revamping activities, and 360° management of crucial activities such as O&M, monitoring, technical-administrative due diligence, asset management and digital energy.

Essence of everything, a solid professional background and the valorization of a crucial competitive advantage: our land!
Southenergy was born from a dream written down on a piece of paper, the dream of creating in Southern Italy an important industrial project that would enhance the resources of our beautiful land: the sun and the wind. Starting from a piece of paper and today grab the attention of an authoritative stakeholder like Intesa Sanpaolo through the Southenergy project, to the point of being named “Impresa Vincente”, is a source of great pride for all of us”.

Southenergy can now count on a staff of about 20 employees, a large customer base in Southern Italy, but not only, and a constantly growing revenue. Results that have allowed Giovanni Melpignano, founder and CEO of the company, to collect the award for “Imprese Vincenti”, the program that Intesa Sanpaolo has dedicated to the valorization of small and medium-sized enterprises capable of growing to levels of excellence by building an example of Made in Italy that works.

The key to success, from a strategic business point of view, is the Southenergy paradigm shift: “In Southenergy we usually think in terms of Energy, and not Power. Anyone who spends on renewables must become aware that the cost is a variable but that the real benefits will be seen over time”. The core element of the company’s offering is in fact not to think in terms of plants but of energy made available to entrepreneurs and investors. A real paradigm shift, aimed at making the added value of renewable energy increasingly tangible for customers and the territory itself, in order to make the energy transition an integral part of companies’ business models through the valorization of their energy needs.

The Intesa Sanpaolo “Imprese Vincenti” program

With the “Imprese Vincenti” program, Intesa Sanpaolo brings to the forefront Italian companies that have been able to best face the difficult context, maintaining and strengthening positive results also through profound transformation initiatives, distinguishing themselves in the national panorama for their ability to adapt and support the productive fabric and the reference communities.

Fifteen stages across Italy to enhance the projects and ambitions of the 150 Imprese Vincenti – 10 of which are foreign – of this 5th edition, chosen from over 4.000 candidates: the eighth stage of the program was held on September 12 in Bari at Villa Romanazzi Carducci, a precious opportunity to compare with the only 10 excellences of the territory, including Southenergy, awarded by Intesa Sanpaolo.

The adoption of ESG criteria, growth projects, the impact on the communities and territories in which they operate, contributing to creating value for the local economy, employment and well-being of people, are the guidelines from which Intesa Sanpaolo’s Winning Companies emerge.
