Vetreria Calasso and Southenergy: flow monitoring for energy independence
Vetreria Calasso selects Southenergy for the installation of a new 490 kW photovoltaic system and the optimization of its entire energy infrastructure.
VETRERIA CALASSO: Over 50 years of glass innovation
Vetreria Calasso, one of Southern Italy’s leading glass manufacturers, has completed the installation of its third photovoltaic system, bringing its total capacity to approximately 1 MW. The company, always at the forefront of innovation and design, has once again demonstrated its strategic vision by integrating sustainability as a fundamental driver for growth and competitiveness.
The glass industry is inherently energy-intensive. For Vetreria Calasso, the challenge was not only to increase clean energy production but also to manage it efficiently. Already equipped with two PV systems, yet lacking a monitoring solution, the company chose to partner with Southenergy for the construction of a new system section and the implementation of a comprehensive, advanced energy management solution.
SOUTHENERGY: Tailored solutions for energy efficiency
Leveraging 17 years of experience in the renewable energy sector, Southenergy addressed Vetreria Calasso’s complex needs with an integrated approach that included:
- INCREASED PHOTOVOLTAIC GENERATION CAPACITY: Installation of a new 490 kW photovoltaic system section to meet growing energy demand.
- REAL-TIME MONITORING: Implementation of a state-of-the-art system to monitor and manage production across all photovoltaic sections. This solution ensures
- the seamless integration of devices from different brands (two Fronius system sections without a monitoring system and one SMA Solar Technology section with a monitoring system), despite their varying technological capabilities,
- thereby allowing for the analysis of consumption and production dynamics and maximizing overall efficiency.
- OPTIMIZATION OF FLOWS: Intelligent management of energy flows to ensure optimal grid injection, in compliance with regulations and corporate needs.
- MANAGEMENT OF INFRASTRUCTURAL COMPLEXITY: An engineered solution to unify the management of a complex infrastructure. This includes handling a grid restriction on the Distribution System Operator’s side (M1 meter), three photovoltaic system sections, two MV substations, and their respective interconnection points.
THE ULTIMATE GOAL: Energy independence and sustainability
The partnership between Vetreria Calasso and Southenergy is a concrete example of how technological innovation and business vision can translate into a lasting competitive advantage. This project not only reduces utility costs but also enhances the real estate asset’s value and strengthens Vetreria Calasso’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
“In a world where everything is energy, we help our clients manage and generate it sustainably” says Giovanni Melpignano, Southenergy CEO. “The Vetreria Calasso project confirms Southenergy Srl’s dedication to providing state-of-the-art, turnkey energy and monitoring solutions that are capable of optimizing the value of the energy produced by our clients’ systems”.
